My first self-imposed task was to create an image that would be a "symbol" for us and our wedding - something meaningful that would be consistent throughout all of the print pieces - and that would be nice to look at. After spending a good deal of time thinking about us as a couple: our experiences, where we met, where we're from, all of that fun stuff, it became pretty obvious to me what direction I was destined to head in (no pun intended, as you shall see).
Kyle is from the west coast (Seattle) and I from the east (Connecticut), and this "dual coastality" has played a large role in our relationship. A compass was a natural fit. I feared that most people would misinterpret the compass as having only a nautical meaning - but I was willing to take this very scary risk. :)
Also, what fun would it be to create a little poem for the talking about this East Coast/West Coast issue? Here's where I landed...enjoy!
